I got a note from Blogspot.com to say that I needed to update my blog...
So, I started working on a post...
I'll post it when I'm done, but it won't be for a couple of days, and it won't start where I left off. :)

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye 2010
The end of the year always gives moments of reflection and sometimes more than moments. I've had a month or so of reflection, and I'm so happy to look forward to a NEW YEAR!!!
In lieu of a Christmas letter or something like that, I decided to blog it and then put it on a picture that hopefully will be coming to you very soon. :)
In February 2009, Roman lost his job. He had been working as a Territory Manager for a Staffing Agency. He would go out prospecting for temporary jobs that would then be filled by people who needed temporary (which sometimes would turn into full time) jobs. I thought it was kind of an oxymoron that the job-seeker lost his job. Alas, he did, and it feels like life has never been the same.
It was just a few months later that he started working as an Insurance Agent, and took the Health, Life, and Disability tests, which he passed. He sold a few policies, but all in all, we were spending WAAAAAY more money than we were making, so in May of 2010, he decided to go to "broker status" with the company. That changed things up for him a little bit, but mostly freed us of a monthly payment for office space. He took a job at DirecTV working in the call center, and after 90 days they let him go for no rhyme or reason. {The "real" reason kind of boils down to this: His supervisor was totally jealous of him because he has an MBA, and while she was on vacation, their team made HUGE numbers, and Roman was getting ready to promote.... she got back and decided to find a reason to fire him. He called in sick one day, and a week later, he got fired. So, now you know the whole story.}
It was then that he started working more closely with his Dad on a business venture ~ of helping him to become a government contractor, working concrete & construction jobs. He has been working hours and hours to get their business papers organized and formalized, as well as working with different venture capitalists to find some funding for some of the larger jobs that they want to bid on. We are in the final processes of this stage, and hopefully this New Year will ring in bigger and better opportunities for our financial living means.

Life has gone by.... FAST!!!
As I looked at my last entry, I just realized that I'm on either side of the largest "candy-holidays" of the planet... Easter and Halloween!
Easter is a candy holiday - as much as it needs to be about Christ, His Life, Death, and Resurrection, it ultimately turns into a candy holiday... chocolate bunnies, chocolate covered marshmallows in all forms now, and something else that I've sadly realized is that much like Christmas, it now has a "Spring" flair to it. We can't really be PC and say "Merry Christmas" so now it's "Holidays" or "Winter" or other form of anti-predjuicial statement. I'm Christian! I believe in Christ! I can say, "Merry Christmas!" I have the freedom of speech! I can also say, "Happy Easter" because I STILL have the freedom of speech! I might not win the Nobel Peace Prize, but hey, I guess with the most recent winner, I COULD be in the running... the world just doesn't know what I can do in 100 days!!!!! :)
Okay - so this is not about Easter, Christmas, Politics, it's about CANDY! Yep - that's right....the glory of sugarly drunkeness. See - Halloween IS the candy holiday. It's not really a holiday at all - it's just a sick and demented way for people to send their kids out into neighborhoods that they would normally not go in and see if they can "get the good stuff." Then, as they are driving to the next neighborhood, they empty their buckets into their pillowcases so that it seems like they've just gotten started when they hit the new set of streets! That's what I call, "Legalized Home Invasion." These monsters, devils, ballerinas, robots, animals.... CRAZIES.... all dress up and invade you... ring your doorbell and demand candy. "Trick or Treat." "oh yeah - what's your trick?" Here's a trick for you... make your candy last until EASTER!!! HAHAHAHAHAA!!!
Okay - so I've cured that cancer at my house... know what I do? (I learned this trick from a wise and dear friend...) The kids go trick or treating - they can be out for as long as they want - beat the streets for hours - come home, and eat all the candy they want! THEN - they get a little sandwich baggie (hee hee...) and they can keep that much candy. THEN, they put the rest of it out for the GREAT PUMPKIN! and guess what magically happens? The Great Pumpkin changes all the candy into a book! I know - it was somewhat disappointing for my kids the first year, but you can kind of wean them into it slowly - like "accidentally" leave a couple pieces of candy in the bag, or put a little "toy" of some kind with the book. GENIUS!
~~There's a slight break in this entry ~ you see it is now November 29, so I'm finishing this post, and then will post again~~~

As Life Goes By...
Well, my friends... it has been a while since I posted any kind of "Real" update, hasn't it? So, consider this part of my pentance? and here goes... pictures will have to be later, because my camera battery is DEAD.
So, April 10 was the last that I posted - since then... as I peruse my calendar, I notice quite a bit, actually...
We had a fun Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt. Kids got plenty of candy, and "stuff" and we had a nice weekend. We enjoyed a lovely Easter dinner with family - Critchfields, Thomas' & of course, Grandma/Grandpa. We had a fun Easter Egg Hunt for the kids at Grandmas, too.
Then, the rest of the week happened, but at the END of the week we had a fun Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for the Young Women/Young Men in our ward. Dinner is usually followed by a silent dessert auction - which held tradition this year. It was a fun evening.
We had Stake Conference that weekend, too. It was the broadcast one to most of the State of Idaho.
Um... what else?? I started working one day per week at The Import Outlet. I started working with them a while ago (I don't know that I updated on all of this)...
Okay - so, I started working with them during March sometime on getting vinyl products into their retail store. I have so enjoyed getting to know the owners of the store. There are 4 couples who are all owners. I work on Fridays... so I started working on Fridays during the month of April. I've had a few things sell - hopefully with some more advertising and marketing, more stuff will sell. :)
I had a piano recital for my 12 piano students on Monday, May 27. I'm excited about piano lessons, as I'm going to start teaching using the Keyboard Gymnastics lesson plan/s. It is such a good program. I'm very excited.
We took a quick, but very much needed trip to Burley for Emily's wedding reception. It was so nice to see most of my sisters, and extended family.
Halle had a very nice 1st grade program during the day of May 1st. Their songs were so good, and I just LOVE - LOVE - LOVE school stuff like that. Love it.
I wish I would have finished college to be a music instructor. I would just be in heaven right now... finding a teaching job like that. But, then I wouldn't be doing vinyl lettering which I just love too...
Well - that takes us into May... Where we are now...
I guess I should update on Roman's job and such...
Roman is working with Mass Mutual, and is selling Financial Life products. He is selling insurance - Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Annuities, Retirement Plans, Disability Insurance, Business Insurance... he did license for something else (I can't remember all the details).
So, now he is "officially" on what they call the "B Contract." He has to sell 5 plans (or 1 plan for 5 people) to get onto the "A Contract." Once he is on the "A Contract" he will qualify for benefits, and most importantly, start getting paid! So - if any of you out there need any kind of FINANCIAL product, please, please, please... see Roman first.
We are in our 4th month without a paycheck (I don't think unemployment counts as a paycheck though...) and we are really starting to feel the effects of it.
And, most recently, we have decided to start a garden! Yes - a real garden! We have been working like crazy the last few weeks in our yard - trying to get it all ready for the warm weather... moved some plants around - got some other plant planted, and hopefully we will have a fountain of color and beauty here in the next few weeks. Our hostas are starting to come up, same with the Lily of the Valley, some other Lillies, and of course our day lillies. I like lillies - can you tell? We also planted some violets, but I haven't seen signs of them yet.
In our desire to of follow the Prophet, we have decided to venture into vegetable gardening! I already planted some pumpkins, and we are going to (hopefully) finish, or get a huge portion done, for Family Home Evening tonight.
On our list of things to plant... Tomatoes: Roma, Early Girl, Cherry & Yellow Pear, Lettuce, Peas, Carrots, Radishes, Squash, Zuchhini, Cucumbers. I might get a green pepper plant and try that, but I'm not too sure about that yet.
Oh, I guess this is something "noteable" (HA - no pun intended) about my Piano Teaching Adventure... a music club that I belong to, the Boise Tuesday Musicale, has elected me as the President-Elect/1st Vice president for 2009-10, and I will be President in 2010-11. I feel quite honored, and somewhat inadequate, but I also feel like Heavenly Father has prepared me for something like this in my life right now.
I haven't read much since Roman got laid off... I guess I'm too distracted by other things... I've tried Katherine, The Uglies, The Diary of Anne Frank, and all I really get to read is the Ensign. I guess that's a good alternative anyway.
Love you all,
Heidi

At LAST......
Aaaaaaaaaaaat Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast.......
A JOB has come along
My collecting-unemployment days are almost over
And life is like sort-of-normal-again
Oh, yeah, At Last.
The skies above are blue
My heart is wrapped up in clovers
The day I was offered a shot at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my degree to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah
when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are by the water cooler....
For you are mine
At last........................
Okay - if you cannot surmise from my personal touch in the original lyrics into Etta James' romantic serenade, let me clear it up for you...
ROMAN GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!!
HUUUUUUUUUUUUURRAH!!!!! We are SO, SO, SO blessed! We are so excited too!
Roman was offered a position as a Financial Adviser with Mass Mutual. He has to go through a few hoops of licensing, (which requires studying/testing) and then a few other things before he's an official employee - so we may be looking at another 6 weeks of touchy finances - BUT at least we know it will come to an end!!!!!
We are so grateful to all of you who have been praying for us, helping us, commiserating with us - and I know how lucky we are to have this HUGE blessing in our lives.
Right now, Roman will be studying to license to sell Health, Life & Disabilty Insurance. He will then tackle 2 other licenses (I don't know which ones they are), and then after that, he will get another license which will make him a full-blown stock broker. :) That won't be for a little while though...
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who have stood by our sides through this time... we love and appreciate you!

Halleluia! Verily, Verily!!!
TRACK BREAK IS OVER!!!!!
It does't get any better than this!!! Well - the only thing better is if Roman had a job - which he doesn't yet. It has been 52 days - which equals 7 weeks and 3 days - and if we're being technical, 11 hours and about 46 minutes... but who's counting?
So, TB (track break- just about as painful as the other TB - teburkulosis, which I know I spelled wrong, so I just sounded it out, thanks to hukt on foniks, I no how to do that) started on March 9 - at least that's what the calendar said... what it SHOULD have said was 3:46 on Friday March 6th, being that the release bell rings at 3:45. Kati came home seeming a little tired - which is quite unusual for her, but a welcomed break for me. We had our customary Friday afternoon snack at Fast Eddys - mine, of course consisting of Diet Coke with vanilla, Halle's - well, she's random, but does follow her strict "Sugar Diet", but Kati just wanted a propel (kind of like gatorade)- which is pretty unusual for her. This unusual-ness dragged on for Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday morning, we woke up and she was just SICK!?! Rosie cheeks, kind of - SLIGHTLY fevery, and an overall feeling of "sick."
Okay - so I realized THEN that Halle wasn't faking it the week prior when she had the same type of symptoms, but it didn't really hit her as hard as I did Kati, but talk about pouring on the guilt. Sheesh!
This lasted for a WEEK! Seriously! A WEEK! I know! I couldn't believe it either! Every day I'd wake up and hope that Kati was still not feeling good so that she wouldn't feel like nit-picking Halle-kula to DEATH over playing Barbies which Halle HATES!!!!!
So, the second week was St. Patricks day - right? That was kind of a fun day - we had dentist appointments! No cavities for Kati! No cavities for Halle! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! We did have to get a "sealing" on one of Halle's molars though. We got referrals for an Orthodontist consultation for both of them, and so then the following day (can you believe they got us in that fast?!) it was off to the orthodontist. Turns out Kati's overbite is not as bad as had previously been suspected, and we might get by with just a retainer thing. (Angels singing!)
We also had a play date this week - oh, and a lice scare... yes, you heard me right... lice. This family (who shall remain nameless, but I will call them family B) was all non-chalant about the whole thing - FINALLY telling the family that we're friends with (who shall remain nameless, but I will call them family A) - that they had a bad outbreak of lice! Just so happens that children of family A (the lice-free ones) had been at my house for like 2 hours the day BEFORE we knew, and that day, family B ALREADY KNEW!!! I was so ticked! Mom A and I shunned Mom B. Well, Mom A got over it, but me - well... I held a grudge for a few days. I mean, really... Lice? EEEEWWWWWWWWWWWww just typing it is gross!!!
So, then the next week was Roman's birthday, AND Spring Break for the rest of the district! We had friends over, played a friends' houses, tea parties, all kinds of fun. and then it was Wednesday. Can I just tell you that by last night, I wanted to find a sharp object to fall on! It as pure, unadulterated torture! 5 days of it !!! If this is a glimpse of what it will be like in - say 4- years, I might as well start planning my funeral!
We scraped enough greenbacks together to use a movie as bribery for good behavior, so we got a few hours of "Love at Home" but a movie is a hefty price on unemployment!!! So, I'm all excited because I'm naive and thing that I'm really doing it - putting down the iron fist AND getting my money's worth!!! We got in the car! Drove to the theater! Got IN the theater! Watched the movie, and LUH-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaME!
Monsters vs. Aliens... where's the sharp object I was looking for??
I DID, however, find a piano teacher for my children. Unfortunately, she has only one opening right now, so Halle is taking lessons from her, and Kati continues to take lessons from me. (I know what you're thinking, and it's true... I know... that just means she's not getting lessons at all.) So, pray that our teacher will get another opening.
And, I managed to get a book read - I read "The Secret Life of Bees," and I really enjoyed it! (okay, so I don't remember the rules of engagement for typing titles of books, and I'm too tired to look it up, so just pretend that I did it right, k?) I did get the movie Friday night, but didn't get a chance to watch it, so I took it back, then decided to get it again, and still didn't watch it. Talk about lame - Me, not the book! :D
I've found like a gazillion friends on FaceBook, too!
But, now it's back to the ol' grind... piano lessons, piano lessons, piano lessons... I'm starting a new curriculum next year - It's really cool... Linda - we HAVE to talk! STUDENTS - BEWARE!!!
So, that's my life - updated, and in a nut shell... can you see why I'm singing praises of HALLELUIA!!!?!
